Download (PDF, 247.9KB)We are now three weeks into the latest series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer, where celebrities swap their day jobs for the apron and the white tent, although for the first time on Channel 4 the series has a new home; Sunday night. The scheduling move has been a success with the first three episodes up vs the previous series at the same point, for volume and share of both the ABC1AD and AD1634 audiences. Averaging a 37% share of AD1634’s across these three episodes, this is the best start to a series since the lockdown series of March/April 2020!

This series is always one of our best profiling shows for younger audiences and comes as no surprise that Adults 16-34’s viewing was up 55%, Women 16-34 viewing up 70% and Men 16-34 viewing up 32% on respective slot average volumes.

Consolidation figures for episode 1 makes it the BIGGEST Channel 4 broadcast since 1985! + the highest rating programme for young viewers on any channel so far this year! All 4 viewing has also seen an impressive increase.

Download (PDF, 485.8KB)Channel 4’s AD1634 viewership is up 10% since lockdown began, whilst the rest of the commercial market is down -4%. This can be attributed to an increase in AD1634 viewership from daytime programmes such as Steph’s Packed Lunch which took a 8% share on Wednesday, Channel 4 News which is up 64% year-on-year and, of course, our platinum specials, The Great British Bake Off and Gogglebox.

Download (PDF, 637.1KB)Last Friday saw the return of Gogglebox at 9pm which had S16 launch with 3.76 million viewers, the biggest audience to a launch episode since Series 7 in Feb 2016. The launch took a 34% share of 1634s which is up 33% on the slot average!

Additionally, Lodgers for Codgers, Cats Does Countdown, Food Unwrapped Does Snacks and Call the Cops all won their slot for 1634s last week. Since Lockdown began Channel 4's late peak (2000-2300) share of 1634's is up 30% year-on-year which is in stark contrast to Commercial TV (exc. C4) which is down -8%.

Most notably with 1634s, Channel 4 has delivered the biggest year on year uplift to audiences here, with an increase of 20% compared to an average decline of 3% among all over commercial channels (excluding C4)

Through the Lockdown Period Channel 4 has accounted for 15 of the Top 30 Shows for 1634 viewership across Commercial TV.
